Gregg Araki’s New Show Now Apocalypse Is Very Gay, Very Sexy

Gregg Araki, the queer director behind some of your favorite cult films (Doom Generation, Mysterious Skin) is moving to a new medium: television. Araki’s newest project is Now Apocalypse, a half-hour comedy about the trials and tribulations of hyper sexual twentysomethings in Los Angeles who are maybe dealing with some kind of sci-fi, end of the world situation.

The show stars the outrageously beautiful Avan Jogia as Ulysses, a vape-hitting stoner temp who moons over his extremely attractive roommate Ford (Beau Mirchoff) when he isn’t hooking up with Tyler Posey (Yes, that guy from Teen Wolf) and having strange recurring dreams about lizard-headed alien creatures. Now Apocalypse follows Ulysses and his friends as they try to figure out their lives in the age of sexual apathy. “I’m a millennial so sexual fluidity is kind of a requirement,” says Carly (Kelli Berglund), Ulysses’ cam girl best friend.

Is Ulysses actually having premonitions of some apocalyptic supernatural conspiracy or is he smoking too much weed — who hasn’t asked themselves that question before?

Based on the trailer, Now Apocalypse looks fun, sexy, and extremely gay. Araki co-wrote the show with Karley Sciortino of VICELAND’s Slutever, so fingers crossed for some premium cable sex scenes on par with True Blood…damn, I miss True Blood.
