Despite its Bible Belt location, Gay Dallas has one of the most vibrant queer communities you are ever likely to encounter. Diverse, genuinely warm, creative and just a little wild – the ‘Big D’ will not disappoint…

The LGBTQ community thrives in the Dallas Region, with a widespread sentiment of welcome throughout the cities and business communities. Both the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth scored a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Municipal Equality Index in 2020, which measures cities inclusion of LGBTQ residents.

Dallas has one of the largest Gay populations in the US. Gay Dallas is primarily centered around the Oak Lawn area with bars, restaurants, and stores found throughout Cedar Springs Rd and Oak Lawn Avenue. The intersection of Throckmorton and Cedar Springs has been called the “crossroads” of Oak Lawn and is the home to LGBT Bars, coffee shops, book stores, video stores, services, and restaurants within walking distance.

For decades, Dallas has long been home to one of Texas’ best LGBT bar scenes. Whether you’re looking for a laid-back jazz bar with craft cocktails or a clubby spot with music perfect for dancing, Dallas-Fort Worth’s gay bar scene has a spot that will suit your needs.

Looking for a night out in Dallas? Find out where all those hot Texan men go clubbing in the city:

Dallas Woody’s

A favorite among locals, Woody’s is the best spot on Cedar Springs for kicked-back vibes, fabulous people watching and some of the best drink specials in the neighborhood.

Station 4

This Dallas-based gay club is located in the heart of the Oak Lawn area, which is known for its celebrated gay scene.

Spend your night dancing away on the spacious dance floor, relax on the patio or explore the famous rose room.

Hidden Door

Opened in 1979, The Hidden Door is one of the city’s best neighborhood bars thanks to its dedicated crowd of regulars and ridiculously friendly bartenders. The bar has been closed for months, but has reopened last June 17.

Round-Up Saloon and Dance Hall

A popular western-themed gay nightclub, the Round-Up Saloon is ideal for country and cowboy lovers alike. Tequila, line dancing and yummy bar staff make the Round-Up Saloon a popular gay hot spot.

The Grapevine Bar

The Grapevine Bar is located just a few blocks from Cedar Springs, so you get a good mix of gays and straights. Inside, you’ll find a bar and pool table. In the back yard, there is a covered patio, open-air patio, rooftop patio, and a kitchen. The kitchen serves a wide variety of tasty food, from cheese fries to burgers and sandwiches.

Alexandre’s Bar

An upscale bar on the Oak Lawn Cedar Springs Strip with a warm, neighborhood vibe conducive to conversation. There is a fun assortment of live entertainment including Broadway Showtunes and Cher-E-Oke, incredible cocktails and a team who really want to ensure you have a memorable night.

JR’s Bar & Grill

As one of Oak Lawn’s longest-standing watering holes, J.R.’s is a hub for all the action on Cedar Springs. Cheap drinks, a friendly crowd, and plenty of room to mingle make it a must-stop when you’re “cruising the crossroads.”

Pekers

A long-standing gay dive bar in an Oak Lawn strip mall offering friendly conversation and strong drinks. The biggest highlight here has to be the Totally Twisted Karaoke held every Friday and Saturday night, but there is also all-day Happy Hour specials otherwise from Sunday to Thursday.

The Mining Company

A Dallas institution since 1978, this bi-level haunt is a popular spot to start or end a night on Cedar Springs. TMC features nightly DJs, a dance floor, pool tables, and most importantly–smoking hot go-go boys galore.

Kaliente

A popular gay Latin nightclub proposing cold beers, shots, stiff cocktails and hot nights of dancing with DJs, events & other entertainment. Open until 2:00 am in Oak Lawn, so you can keep the vibe going until it’s scandalously past your bedtime. Just outside of the gaybourhood, though the cover charge in addition to paid parking means you might be dissuaded from club-hopping here.
